Coriolus PSP is a special extract of the spores from the fungus Turkey tail.
It’s botanical name is Trametes Versicolor (also known as Coriolus versicolor, or Kawaratake in Japanes, or Yun-Zhi in Chinese).
The medicinal plant part is the fruiting body. The active compounds are known as polysaccharide peptide (PSP) and polysaccharide krestin (PSK). PSP and PSK have been investigated as adjuvant medicines during chemotherapy and radiation.
Studies have found that these immune enhancing polysaccharides enhance quality of life of cancer patients.
PSP and PSK are also used for stimulating the immune system; treating herpes, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), hepatitis, and pulmonary disorders; reducing phlegm; improving bodybuilding results; increasing energy; curing ringworm and a skin condition called impetigo; treating upper respiratory, urinary, and digestive tract infections; curing liver disorders including hepatitis; reducing the toxic effects and pain of chemotherapy and radiation therapy; increasing the effectiveness of chemotherapy; prolonging life and raising the quality of life of cancer patients; and increasing appetite.
PSP and PSK are known as biological response modifiers.
PSP may help to improve or maintain better immune status while decreasing the severity of the side effects associated with chemotherapy and radiation.
Its good safety profile also makes it an ideal adjunct therapy to help in the treatment of cancer.
