Vitamin D for depression

Vitamin D supplementation has been shown in a systematic review and meta-analysis to be associated with a statistically significant improvement in depression. At least 800 IU daily is recommended however in Tasmania we recommend 3000 IU vitamin D daily all year round. The antidepressant effect was comparable to that of antidepressant medication.
